This is a quartersawn curly white oak. Quartersawn sections display prominent ray fleck patterns. I normally shy away from oak (probably because so much boring furniture is made from it) but when I saw this stock I had to have it. This isn't the stuff they used for grandpa's cabinets. Swirly, beautiful, and tough.
NOTE: There are only 6 sets of these panels, 2 which are getting an oil-based gloss finish, 2 a semi-gloss, and 2 a satin finish. The animated picture is from the gloss set. The static pics are labeled as to which finish they are. The set you receive may be different from the one in the picture, but all are from the same piece of stock.
