Birdseye maple is the first wood I used to make my first set of panels. I chose it for its workability and interesting grain. The finish brings out a nice depth and shimmer.
NOTE: There are only 2 sets of these panels made. I used a durable oil-based finish which will amber nicely with age. I wanted max shimmer without too much glare so I did the first two coats high gloss with the final coat a semi-gloss. The result is exactly what I was shooting for.
